SOMEWHERE ELSE
The land of the giants flickered. They were gaining altitude until they reached the door of the stars. The sky was very clear. Hidden stars were revealed. In the solar system, the battle was raging. The intruder, the ancient monster was back.
The ancient writings spoke of this coming, but successive allegories had corrupted the message left by the ancients.
The ancient serpent had approached the solar system. He fought a titanic fight with known planets. Out of his jail, he had in him that ancestral rancor against the king of heaven.
The giants had obliterated their memories that this event could happen again. The monster of space had not yet completed his work.
The giants had to see. See with their own eyes what they had so long to deny.
The crystal ship had reached the doors of the mothership. Once again, the big blue belt opened to swallow the last survivors ...
Arrived in the bowels of the big cube, the last giants thought to discover the faces of their fathers.
The last fifty arrived from their shuttle. Jean followed them, closing the march.
To their amazement, they realized that their guests were made like them. Everything that had been put forward as hypothesis, on the forms of life in the universe, was questioned. No hideous monsters, but beings like them. Perhaps more advanced than them, but like them.
Some of John's friends wanted to know everything, but the people of space did not want to reveal everything to them immediately. They still had a mission to accomplish. They had no time to lose for teaching. For them too the time was running out ...
The big cube left the sky of the world of giants. At a vertiginous speed, he rushed towards the limits of the solar system.
The world of the giants was only a shadow of itself. A world of fury, boiling, destruction ... All the survivors had posted themselves in front of the big bays of the ship. In silence, in a great recollection, they watched their world perish, in complete helplessness.
The monster, the old dragon stood ready for his last battle. He circled the orbit of the king of days, juggling with the position of the moon. She would not be left out. He had against her more powerful hexes than she had used for the giants. She too would be paid for the currency of her room ...
Destruction was spreading on all the planets of the solar system. None was spared. The dragon had to destroy the gods of heaven, as well as his children ... As he fought, he increased his power. Nothing resisted him. He was gaining volume, flying their substances to different planets. Bloodthirsty monster, he was the champion of a new world ...
The sun was shaking in front of the monster. He swelled and tried an attack. Large tongues of fire poured into space. Nothing was doing there. The monster was powerful and held back all the attacks of the sun. The star of days changed color. He had lost his shine of bright gold. He had become cuprous, as if bled to death. The transmutation was taking place. The evil spells of the monster had made effect. The sun would become a mass of lead. Reverse Alchemy ...
The big dragon was not at his first attempt. Several times in the past, he had tried to cut down the beautiful sun. Certainly his time had not come. He was still young and fiery, did not have the experience of weapons. Every time he returned to fight his father, he had suffered a stinging defeat. But each time, he went back into the darkness of the universe, with, pegged to the body, his rancor and a strength greater than ever.
He who knew had taught the wise about this event. Other beings like John had been born in the world of giants. They had tried to understand the sequence of events. Alas, they were never taken seriously. John, meanwhile, knew that this world was undergoing a transformation. The world of heaven, but also that people of the universe who thought themselves Gods, had to submit to the law of the One who knows. The same law governed all the universes. Everyone had to know this transformation. No people could escape it.
The one who knows has another reason, another transmutation in view. This was of paramount importance for the rest of the story. Jean had glimpsed what this transmutation could represent, but had not told anyone about it ...
The monster had drawn his plans. He did not have time to wait. Emissaries charged with the power of a thousand suns crossed the space towards the father of heaven.
The troops, arranged in order, attacked the last defenses. One by one, each planet of the solar system disappeared under the devastating effects of the fires of hell. During the last fight, the revenge had left behind a cohort of loyal soldiers. When he returned, he had sounded the reminder of the troops. They had pledged allegiance to this suzerain in exile. They would fight relentlessly ... The dragon's sons were hammering the sun. They sank into her bosom, as if to destroy him from within. The sun swallowed them. He was full of the power of dragons. What he did not know was that the dragons were venomous beings. The fire that animated them was to be used to destroy the power of the father of heaven.
The sun swelled with this venomous power. The more he swelled, the less he seemed to be combative. A huge balloon, which had swallowed up to its own bastions.
Those who were in the ship stared at the titanic spectacle. Tears ran down their cheeks. They were helpless ... What was dying was their father. They could not save him from his sad fate ...
The ship was out of the solar system. The fight could still be seen. It was necessary that the people of the giants see all this tragedy ... The ship slowed down. The giants were staring at each other. What was happening ? The pilot knew they were safe. Waiting for the end. Giants had to see the end of their world. Let them know, and never again do they doubt or forget this terrible vision ...
It was a terrible picture. The universe was the prey of gigantic flames. A fight in silence ... The fire against the ice ... And then a gigantic explosion ... Everything that was was destroyed in a single second. Lightning streaked the universe. Parts of the worlds were scattered in space at the speed of light ... The fire against the ice ... The rest would be sterile slags ...
In the ship, the giants were crying. They no longer had the hope of finding their world. They had no hope at all ... Some were still hanging on the bars in front of the big bays. They clung to their memories ... And then, there was the memory of those who stayed down on the earth of their world. What a tragic end for them, even if they could no longer understand what was happening. The new master they had invoked had only brought them destruction. The fire had destroyed them for the second time ...
Part of the race of the giants had been saved. Alone, that mattered. They did not know why they had been chosen. They did not think at all ... The haggard look, they gathered together in the center of the room. For the first time in all their history, all this people unite in a huge chain, holding hands, and looking down at the ground ...
